Anna Marie and Nate were married on January 1st 2011 and Dots and Stripes was there to help their day go off without a hitch! Weather threatened to put a damper (or a freeze) on the outdoor wedding but with a few outdoor heaters we were able to pull it off. The outdoor fireplaces and candles set throughout the yard made the backyard a romantic backdrop for the ceremony and reception. The backyard houses an amazing outdoor kitchen and brick oven for pizza making. A buffet of toppings for guests to make their own personal pizzas was a huge hit with the family & friends.
A candy table was set up to fit the theme that the bride and groom came up with “Love is Sweet.” The guests enjoyed filling their goodie bags with delicious candy to take home from the wedding. While we are talking sweets I have to mention the AMAZING cupcakes that were served. Sweet Things Cupcake Shoppe located in the Foothills Mall on La Cholla supplied the fantastic cupcakes that were as delicious as they were cute!
The wedding was fun, unique, and sweet just like the new husband and wife!
Congratulations Anna Marie and Nate and Happy New Year!!!
Max’s 2nd birthday was celebrated on Sunday, September 19th with all of his family and friends in attendance. We decked out his house in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, 3 of Max’s favorite things! We had a great time planning and executing this boyish birthday bash and Max LOVED being the center of attention!
Inspired by a red biplane that flies over our house almost daily, we chose to use the colors light blue and white (like the sky), and red for all the modes of transportation. A new Hobby of Kelsey’s, sewing, added another texture, fabric, to the mix. She made scalloped banners to look like clouds which were hung throughout the house with red wood planes flying through them. Red wood trains and cars acted as centerpieces for the tables and a huge red plane pinata made by Kelsey’s cousin, Megan Thompson, added another homemade touch to the party. The candy table was filled with red and blue candy and the cloud backdrop really set this candy table apart from anything we have ever done. Elizabeth has the artistic eye and set everything up so perfectly! We had a blast putting everything together and combining out hobbies and strengths to execute this party.
Technical difficulties have delayed the process of uploading and editing the photos but we hope to have them posted this week. Please stay tuned to see our favorite party yet!
We started Dots and Stripes Events a year ago after planning and executing an adorable first birthday party for Max. We were immediately hooked to the research, list making, crafting, creativity, and time it forced us to spend together, so just days after Max’s party, Dots and Stripes was born.
We have been using this blog (inconsistently to say the least) as the website to our little business. As we have a year and couple events under our belts, we have decided that one change we would like to make is to our blog. First, we will be posting much more frequently. Second, we will be more personal. Elizabeth and I both have many hobbies including photography and sewing that we would like to share with our readers. Finally, we have a couple events coming up including a big wedding that we are planning! Elizabeth and Matt are getting married in March and we would like to share the next 6 months of wedding prep with you.
Recently this couple got engaged and Dots and Stripes was there to style the (engagment) photo shoot with a cute picnic them. We even picked out the atire to match the couples picnic theme. The couple was photographed by the VERY talented Jennifer Bowen. If you have not seen here blog, it is a MUST, and can be viewed at: http://www.jenniferbowen.net. For more information about Jennifer you can view her website at: Jenniferphotography.com. The rustic photo shoot makes you want to kick of your shoes and take a nap in the grass!!! Enjoy!
